Content Guidelines
Your content must not:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Contain harmful or malicious code
- Include inappropriate or offensive material
4. Payments, Fees, and Payouts
4.1 Payment Processing
Sketchplay uses Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") as its exclusive payment processor. To accept payments through Sketchplay, you must establish a Stripe Connect account, which is governed by the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe Services Agreement (collectively, the "Stripe Terms"). By using Sketchplay's payment features, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agreed to be bound by the Stripe Terms.
Payments processed through Sketchplay are made on a "direct charge" basis through your Stripe-connected account, meaning funds are settled directly from your customer to your bank account through Stripe and do not pass through Sketchplay. You — not Sketchplay — are the merchant of record for transactions made through your account, and you bear primary responsibility for the obligations of that role, including refunds, chargebacks, disputes, tax reporting, and compliance with applicable card-network rules.
By default, "Sketchplay" or a similar identifier appears as the statement descriptor on your customers' card and bank statements. You may update the statement descriptor at any time through your Stripe dashboard.
4.2 Stripe Processing Fees
Stripe charges processing fees on each successful transaction. As of the Last Updated date, Stripe's standard fees are:
- Credit and debit cards: 2.9% + $0.30 per successful charge
- ACH direct debit: the greater of 1.0% or $5.00 per transaction
- International cards: an additional 1.0% surcharge
- Chargebacks, disputes, currency conversion, and instant payouts: subject to additional Stripe fees
Stripe sets and may change these fees independently of Sketchplay. Current fees are published at stripe.com/pricing. Stripe processing fees are deducted from your connected-account balance and are your responsibility regardless of how you choose to handle them with your end users.
4.3 Sketchplay Platform Fees
In addition to Stripe processing fees, Sketchplay charges a platform fee on each successful transaction:
| Transaction Amount | Sketchplay Platform Fee |
|---|---|
| $99.00 or less | $3.00 flat per transaction |
| $100.00 or greater | 3.0% of the transaction amount |
Platform fees apply equally to card and ACH transactions unless a written agreement between you and Sketchplay states otherwise. Platform fees are collected through Stripe Connect's application-fee mechanism at the time of the transaction.
Sketchplay reserves the right to modify platform fees at any time. Material changes will be communicated to you with at least thirty (30) days' notice by email or in-product notification. Continued use of Sketchplay after the effective date of a fee change constitutes acceptance of the new fees.
4.4 Who Pays the Fees
Event registrations. When you accept payments for event registrations through Sketchplay, Stripe processing fees and Sketchplay platform fees are passed through to your end users (e.g., parents, athletes, participants) as a separate line item at checkout. The registration price you set is the amount you receive; fees are added on top.
Sketchplay Ticketing. When you use Sketchplay Ticketing to sell tickets, you may choose, on a per-event basis through your Sketchplay dashboard, whether to (a) absorb processing and platform fees yourself, in which case fees are deducted from the ticket price you receive, or (b) pass fees through to ticket buyers as a separate line item.
4.5 Refunds, Chargebacks, and Disputes
Because Sketchplay uses direct charges through Stripe Connect, funds from a successful transaction settle to your connected account and do not pass through Sketchplay. Accordingly:
- You are responsible for issuing refunds to your end users, on whatever policy and timeline you publish. You must clearly communicate your refund policy to your end users at the time of registration or ticket purchase.
- You are responsible for chargebacks and disputes, including the underlying transaction amount, any Stripe chargeback or dispute fee (currently $15 per disputed transaction), and any related costs Stripe imposes.
- Sketchplay platform fees and Stripe processing fees are non-refundable. When a transaction is refunded or successfully disputed, the platform fee and processing fee originally charged remain payable.
- Sketchplay will provide reasonable support in connection with disputes and refunds, including evidence gathering and account-level coordination with Stripe, but Sketchplay is not a party to the underlying transaction and assumes no liability for refund or chargeback outcomes.
4.6 Payouts
By default, Sketchplay configures Stripe-connected accounts for daily automatic payouts to your designated bank account. You may modify your payout schedule at any time through your Stripe dashboard, subject to Stripe's requirements and any holds or reserves Stripe may impose. Sketchplay does not control payout timing, reserves, or holds; these are governed entirely by Stripe.
4.7 Taxes and Reporting
You are solely responsible for determining, collecting, reporting, and remitting any sales, use, value-added, gross-receipts, or other taxes applicable to transactions you process through Sketchplay. Because you are the merchant of record on your connected account, Stripe will issue tax forms (including IRS Form 1099-K, where applicable) directly to you based on your account activity. Sketchplay does not provide tax advice and recommends you consult a qualified tax professional regarding your obligations.
5. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to Sketchplay immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive.
